SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― Stroke can happen to anyone at any time. Symptoms include numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side; confusion or trouble understanding other people; difficulty speaking; and trouble seeing. Prompt treatment may minimize the long-term effects of a stroke and even prevent death.

The Swedish Stroke Team from HealthONE and Regional West Health Services cordially invite health care professionals to expand their knowledge of the advancements in the early management of acute stroke at a stroke symposium Wednesday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

Amy Nieberlein, MSN, ACNP-BC, FNP-C, CEN, stroke nurse practitioner with HealthONE in Denver will present on the topics of neuroanatomy in relation to stroke symptom,  nursing priorities while caring for the acute stroke patient, the latest in acute stroke treatments, and case studies.

Also presenting from the Swedish Stroke Team will be Jeff Wagner, MD, who will cover stroke updates with updated time windows.
