Regional West Foundation Gala Raises Funds for da Vinci Surgical System

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – The recent annual Regional West Foundation gala was a huge success, raising over $200,000 towards the da Vinci Surgical System. During the gala, the Foundation also posthumously honored Virginia M. Miller with the “Champion of Nursing Award” for her contribution to the nursing profession during her many years of service. Accepting the award on behalf of Virginia’s family was Myla Schwartz, a former nursing student under Virginia Miller.

“Over 300 guests gathered for our annual gala,” said John Massey, chair of the Regional West Foundation board of directors. “We are humbled by the support providers, staff, and community members have shown for the Foundation and Regional West.”

“We’re grateful to our major sponsors who were instrumental in making the gala a great success: Western States Bank, Ideal Linen, Hampton Inn & Suites and Conference Center, and Kelley Bean Company,” said Julie Marshall, Regional West Foundation director of development. “This is the one event that brings our community leaders, health system leaders, and guests all together to celebrate the advancement of health care throughout Regional West.”

“Our plan is to develop a single robotic surgery suite that will be used by surgeons from various disciplines, including general surgery, OB/GYN, urology, and others as they become certified. This is an important next step in continuing to provide exceptional care for the region,” said Jeffrey Holloway, MD, Regional West Physicians Clinic vice president of surgery.

“Thank you to the Foundation’s volunteer board of directors and our foundation team for their hard work and dedication to raising funds to provide the da Vinci Surgical System at Regional West. We couldn’t have done this without all the donors in the community and throughout the region,” said John Mentgen, President and CEO of Regional West Health Services.
