Regional West Birth and Infant Care Center Receives New Bassinets and Labor and Delivery Beds
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― On Jan. 2, Regional West’s Birth and Infant Care Center welcomed 15 new bassinets and labor and delivery beds, courtesy of a donation from Regional West Foundation.
Thanks to the donation, all bassinets in the Birth and Infant Care Center’s nursery have been replaced. The new bassinets are ergonomically designed for both mothers and nurses, with wheel locks, non-tip tubs, and the ability to raise and lower. Their shape allows them to be pulled up in front of a chair or beside mothers’ mattresses, meaning infants can safely sleep in the bassinet next to their mothers.
The labor and delivery beds come with mattresses that utilize air pumps to soften or firm the mattress based on preference. The beds are also adjustable to position mothers comfortably for delivery.
Birth and Infant Care Center and Pediatrics Director Kynzie Lentfer, BSN, RN, CLC, said the additions were great gifts to the facility.
“The day the bassinets and beds were delivered felt like Christmas, only better,” she said. “We are so thankful to Regional West Foundation for understanding how important these pieces of equipment are to the care we provide. We are so proud and excited to use them.”
Regional West Foundation Board Chair John Massey said it was an honor to contribute equipment to the Birth and Infant Care Center.
“We are happy to help provide this necessary equipment for both mothers and infants at Regional West. We know it will get put to great use,” he said.
The Regional West Foundation was established in 1972 to support the health system’s mission of excellence in healthcare. Today, the Foundation's success is a continuation of a long and proud tradition of community support for superior healthcare services in the communities it serves.
