Regional West Celebrates Hospital Week in May
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― Regional West is proud to celebrate its health system physicians, providers, and employees during Hospital Week May 12 through 18, 2024.
National Hospital Week was first celebrated as National Hospital Day in 1921. After the 1918 Spanish influenza pandemic, many people feared hospitals. National Hospital Day was created to help hospitals build back public trust. In 1953, the celebration was extended to a week, overlapping with Florence Nightingale’s birthday to honor her contributions to nursing care.
This year, National Hospital Week comes on the heels of Regional West Medical Center’s recent 100th anniversary celebration. Regional West Health Services CEO Mel McNea, MHA, says this is a special time to recognize the efforts of all Regional West employees.
“From physicians and advanced practice providers to nurses, emergency medical technicians, technologists, therapists, non-clinical, and support employees, we’re proud to celebrate all of Regional West’s employees during National Hospital Week,” he said. “We are grateful for everyone who has been part of our legacy, and we’re committed to providing excellent healthcare now and in the ever-changing future.”
