Village at Regional West Wins Nebraska’s “Best Assisted Living Programming” Award
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – The Village At Regional West received its fourth award in 10 years from the Nebraska Assisted Living Association for “Nebraska’s Best National Assisted Living Week Programming.”
The Village was honored for its 2012 National Assisted Living Week (NALA) celebration, which was planned by Activity Coordinator Crystal Schank. Schank was presented the award at the recent Nebraska Health Care Association and Nebraska Assisted Living Association convention in Kearney.
Based on the theme “Art for the Ages,” Schank planned a week of activities for the assisted living residents that included painting, crafts, food decorating, and music, and an art show.
“I felt really lucky to get such an awesome theme because there were so many directions I could go with such a week,” said Schank, who holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
With the help of Village employees, residents painted and decorated a bench, which Schank’s husband, Christian, put together for use in the Assisted Living unit.
The NALA “Programming” award recognizes an assisted living community that successfully integrates residents, staff, relatives, volunteers, and local citizens in a series of varied activities and community events during National Assisted Living Week.
“We are so honored to receive this award, but in all honesty, we simply planned a week full of fun activities for the enjoyment of our residents. It’s just one of many examples of the kind of hard work and teamwork our staff puts forth regularly to make living at The Village fun for our residents,” said Karen Vorse, Village Administrator.
The Village at Regional West is a retirement community located in Scottsbluff that includes a 43-bed assisted living facility and 57 independent living apartments. It is owned by Regional West Health Services.
Regional West Health Services, with over 1,800 employees, provides comprehensive and innovative health care services for the people and communities of western Nebraska and the neighboring states of Colorado, South Dakota and Wyoming.
