Sidney’s Dorwart Cancer Care Center Re-Opens Visiting Physician Clinics Cancer Care Continues At Regional West
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – The Dorwart Cancer Care Center at Sidney, Neb., will re-open its visiting physician clinics on Monday, September 30. The clinics were temporarily moved to Memorial Health Center following a September 9 storm that flooded and knocked out power to the cancer care center.
Extensive cleaning, repair, and construction have been underway since the storm. Jeff Kriewald, BS, RT, (R), (T), Regional West Director of Cancer Services, said the building was inspected and the outpatient area of the building was approved for reopening.
The area that houses the linear accelerator will remain closed indefinitely. All patients who are undergoing radiation therapy will continue to receive treatment at The Cancer Treatment Center in Scottsbluff.
“In collaboration with the Regional West Safety and Facilities Management Departments, and our consulting air quality firm, we are moving forward with cleaning and restoration in phases from the ceilings to floors to ensure a clean and safe environment for the patients and employees at Dorwart Cancer Treatment Center.” said Amanda Sabo, RN, BSN, Infection Prevention nurse.
