Unique Nursing Education Opportunity To Be Offered At Midwest Theater
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Nationally-known nutrition specialist Mary Ann Hodorowicz, RD, MBA, CDE, CEC, will be the keynote speaker at a unique nursing education program with a local agricultural twist.
“Diet-Drive Solutions For Diabetes” will highlight research into the health benefits of including locally-grown dry edible beans and legumes in diabetic diets.
The seminar will be presented Friday, November 2 at The Historic Midwest Theater, 1707 Broadway, Scottsbluff.
Nurses, dietitians, nurse practitioners and others who work with diabetes patients are encouraged to register for the seminar, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The registration deadline has been extended to October 19.
The seminar qualifies for 3.83 nursing contact hours. Full attendance is required to earn the nursing contact hours. RD and LMNT CEU credits have been applied for. The cost for the seminar, morning snack and lunch is $85. Walk-in registration is $100. Student registration is $35. Lunch will be provided by The Meat Shoppe.
Faculty for the seminar also includes Vicki Schlegel, PhD, Associate Professor, UNL Department of Food Science and Technology, Lincoln, Neb., and Janice Rueda, PhD, Director of Health and Nutrition at the American Pulse Association, Moscow, Idaho.
The seminar is sponsored by Kelley Bean Co. and Regional West Medical Center. All proceeds from the seminar will benefit the Diabetes Foundation, Life Change Connection.
Seminar attendees will qualify for discounted admission to the evening’s “Diminishing Diabetes Deliciously” wine and bean pairing event from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Powerhouse, 1721 Broadway, Scottsbluff. The cost for seminar attendees is $50.
