Recreational Walkers Invited to Participate in Community Volkswalk
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Area residents are invited to enjoy western Nebraska’s fall weather and a walk with family and friends during the first community Volkswalk on Saturday, Oct. 8. Popular throughout the U.S., Volkswalks are non-competitive, recreational walks that promote well-being and good health through safe exercise in a stress-free environment.
The 10k walk (6.2 miles) will start and end at Regional West Medical Center South Plaza. Registration is from 8 to 11 a.m. and walkers are welcome to begin the route after registering. A 5k route is also available.
The walk is free to all participants and all ages are welcome. For those wishing to join the Achievement Awards Program through the American Volkssport Association, the cost is $3 and can be paid at registration. Achievement Awards Program members receive a special award for completing the walk.
Participants should bring a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes. Water and snacks will be provided at various checkpoints along the route and all walkers are eligible for prize drawings during the event.
