Walk-in Flu Clinic Postponed
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., -The Walk-in Flu Shot Clinic scheduled for Tuesday, November 14 has been postponed due to delayed shipment of flu vaccine. Flu shot clinics will be rescheduled when a full shipment of vaccine is received, most likely in early December.
Regional West Medical Center and Horizons West Medical Group, PC vaccinated more than 2,000 people at the recent drive-through and walk-in clinics; however, both organizations received only partial shipments of their annual flu vaccine orders and are awaiting the remaining shipments.
According to Regional West Epidemiology and Infection Control Specialist Marsha Meyer, RN, there is still plenty of time to be safely vaccinated for protection from the flu.
“Typically, flu season begins around the first of the year, so December is not too late to be vaccinated,” said Meyer. “It takes about two weeks for the vaccination to become fully effective and it lasts through the flu season.”
Regional West Medical Center and Horizons West Medical Group regret any inconvenience caused by the delay and will announce the dates of the walk-in flu clinics as soon as the vaccine shipment arrives. For more information about the Regional West flu shot clinics, please call the Community Health office at (308) 630-1126.
