SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – The Diabetes Care Center at Regional West Physicians Clinic will host a free community education class for individuals who are interested in learning more about insulin pumps and how they work on Tuesday, May 26. The class will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Regional West Medical Plaza South, Room 1202.

Representatives from insulin pump manufacturer Medtronic will be on hand to explain the features of their product. The basics on continuous glucose monitoring will also be discussed. Continuous glucose monitoring is a way to measure glucose throughout the day and night. A tiny electrode called a glucose sensor is inserted under the skin to measure glucose levels in tissue fluid. It is connected to a transmitter that sends the information via wireless radio frequency to a monitoring and display device.
