Prairie Haven Hospice Offering Free Harpist Presentation
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Prairie Haven Hospice in Scottsbluff invites the public and health care professionals to join them for an informative presentation and performance by Tami Briggs, founder of Musical Reflections on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Scottsbluff Hampton Inn.
Two sessions will be offered. Family members of hospice patients and members of the community are invited to join the hospice staff for a continental breakfast and performance starting at 9 a.m. Health care professionals are encouraged to attend a two-hour presentation that begins at 10 a.m.
As a pioneer in the field of harp therapy, Tami facilitates and lectures to educate people about using music in the healing process. She brings a unique set of skills and an experiential approach as a health educator and speaker. By weaving together powerful stories and practical tips with live musical examples (bringing her lap or folk harp to each presentation), she demonstrates music's role in the healing process.
Professional health care staff attending the session will receive two free contact hours and will gain knowledge of research data about using music in the healing process. They will also learn how the benefits of using music (comfort, pain distraction, relaxation and anchoring) can be used in hospice. In addition, explore different ways music can support the hospice provider's/caregiver's journey and discuss the feeling the music evoked and their response. There will also be discussion about how music can be used to enhance patient comfort in the hospice setting.
Reservations are requested, as space is limited. Please call Prairie Haven Hospice at (308) 630-1149 to reserve your place by September 10.
