Send Your Doctor a Note of Thanks for Doctors’ Day
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Regional West Health Services encourages staff, patients, and community residents to recognize outstanding health care providers in honor of National Doctors’ Day on March 30.
"National Doctors' Day provides an opportunity to recognize physicians for their tireless commitment to providing excellent patient care," said Paulette Schnell, RN, BSN. “The Regional West Medical Center’s Nurse-Physician Council encourages community members to take a moment to thank a provider, drop them a note, or even nominate your favorite medical staff member for physician of the quarter.”
Doctor's Day was first observed on March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia. Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians. The first observance included mailing greeting cards to doctors and placing flowers on graves of deceased doctors.
On March 30, 1958, the United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctors' Day. In 1990, Congress approved legislation designating March 30th as "National Doctor's Day."
“We are grateful to our medical staff for sacrifices they make and their achievements in providing safe, compassionate, and effective care for our patients,” said Schnell.
The Regional West Medical Center Nurse-Physician Council thanks all physicians for their dedication to their patients and the care they provide.
