Regional West has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke GoldPlus and Rural Stroke Silver quality achievement awards for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.

Stroke Resources & Education

Stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. When a stroke occurs, brain cells in the immediate area begin to die because they stop getting oxygen and nutrients they need to function. There are two types of stroke: ischemic – due to lack of blood flow, and hemorrhagic – due to bleeding in the brain.
