Cancer Survivors’ Day is an annual event where cancer survivors, their families, physicians, and other members of the oncology health care team gather to applaud cancer survivors and their personal victories. A cancer survivor is anyone with a history of cancer whether newly diagnosed or long-term. An estimated 10.8 million Americans are now living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis, including over 4,200 cancer survivors in the Nebraska panhandle.
This year’s theme is “Laughter is the Best Medicine.” Regional West’s own Clinton Merrill, MD will be the day’s keynote speaker. As a board certified physician specializing in Oncology and Hematology at Regional West Physicians Clinic-Oncology, Dr. Merrill understands that the world of cancer survivorship can be new and challenging territory. He offers insight for both cancer survivors and their friends and family as they travel the path of survivorship.
