SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – The Gering Civic Center will be the location of Regional West Foundation’s third annual gala, “A Venetian Carnival,” on October 11.

The formal event will begin at 6 p.m. with cocktails. A silent auction will take place throughout the evening. Dinner at 7 p.m. will be followed by a live auction, which includes vacation packages and much more. The evening will continue with dancing and musical entertainment by Denver’s “The Spotlight Band.”

The gala is major fundraising event for Regional West Foundation. This year, funds will go towards the Campaign for Continuing Excellence. The key project of the campaign is the construction of an Education Center at Regional West. The planned state-of-the-art facility will allow Regional West to provide on-site continuing education classes for employees and medical staff.

“A Venetian Carnival” will honor retired Scottsbluff physician William Packard, MD, and his wife Shari.

Dr. Packard, a native of New York and graduate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, moved to Scottsbluff in 1977 and helped to establish the Emergency Department. There, he met his wife-to-be, who was working at the hospital laboratory.

During his 32 year internal medicine career, Dr. Packard focused on the treatment of patients with cancer and he played key role in development of Regional West’s cancer program.

The gala will also provide an opportunity to introduce Regional West’s newly recruited physicians.
