Regional West’s Second Quarter STAR Award Recipient Embodies Caring Spirit
Regional West recently recognized Stephanie Joy as a second quarter STAR award recipient.
The STAR program at Regional West encourages employees, patients, their family members, and visitors to nominate employees who demonstrate outstanding care and customer service.
Joy works in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a unit secretary and telemetry technician. Her nomination from a patient’s family read, "We were a large group. Stephanie made sure we each had a chair! We were spending the entire days in ICU. Stephanie offered to get us anything we might need! All on her own, she took the initiative to spend her own time and money to provide us with an abundance of foods, muffins, fruits, granola bars, and chips. She also checked on each family member asking if we needed anything or asking what she could do for us. We were thankful and grateful!"
Temple Russell, BSN, RN, Regional West’s director of Medical Surgical Services, said Joy has a big heart and is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed.
“Stephanie definitely feels compassion for patients and families alike when they are faced with difficult situations, which is pretty common in the Intensive Care Unit,” said Russell. “This came as no surprise whatsoever to me that she had done this for a family of a critically ill patient.”
