PET CT suite open house

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., ― Regional West invites the community to attend its new PET/CT suite open house on Tuesday, April 22, 4 to 7 p.m., in the ground floor of Regional West Medical Plaza South, 3911 Avenue B, Scottsbluff. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be provided.

A Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) exam combines two scans into one to create images with information about both anatomy and physiology. PET/CT exams are used to help treat and diagnose illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, and brain disorders (such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia).

The suite will house a Siemens Biograph mCT PET/CT machine, which offers full diagnostic CT capability, lower radiation doses and exposure, and increased image quality and scan speeds. The suite also features advanced applications for oncology, cardiology, and neurology.

“All of us in Nuclear Medicine, as well as our patients, are looking forward to having a state-of-the-art PET/CT scanner located in our new suite in Medical Plaza South,” said Nuclear Medicine/PET Supervisor Katrina Teague, CNMT. “We will continue to offer our current services, such as oncology exams and prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) exams, and look forward to expanding into breast and brain imaging soon. All in all, we aim to provide comfort, quality, and convenience as we care for our patients.”

“We are so excited to move from the mobile PET/CT unit that has been here for many years to our new in-house location. The space looks fantastic,” added Regional West Imaging Services Director Josh Lively, MHA, BS, R.T.(R)(VI). “PET/CT is one of the fastest growing fields in Imaging. The need for accurate cancer detection and treatment planning has grown. The Siemens mCT machine, which is the only one in the region, will allow us to improve not only the patient experience, but more importantly the outcomes. We are thrilled to have this cutting-edge technology that will allow us to also grow services in the near future. This will be a valuable addition to Regional West and the communities that we are honored to serve.”
