Gym
Our gym offers a wide array of equipment for evaluating and treating patients. This includes computerized equipment, such as the Biodex, Balance Master, and BTE Work Simulator that can be used to measure a patient’s strength, motion, balance, and ability to perform tasks.

Mobility courtyard
Our outdoor mobility courtyard allows patients to practice walking on a variety of different surfaces and grades. Therapists use mobility courtyards to help patients re-learn how to walk on different surfaces, reducing their risk of a fall.

Inpatient therapy is utilized following trauma, elective surgery, debility from illness, and for recommendations for home safety and equipment needs.

Our focus is on regaining strength, balance, and independence to allow patients to return home safely. We often begin the continuum of care as patients move from the hospital inpatient setting to the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) to Home Care to outpatient therapy.

The Acute Rehab Unit (ARU) at Regional West Medical Center is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and by the Joint Commission. Regional West's ARU has also received special accreditation from CARF as a certified Stroke Specialty Program.

How would carrying a gene mutation change my treatment and management?

Some women who test positive for certain genetic mutations decide to have a mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy in order to prevent a new, second breast cancer from occurring in the future. Additionally, women with mutations in cancer predisposition genes are sometimes at an increased risk for other types of cancer and may be candidates for additional surgeries and/or screening.
