As a service provided by Regional West, the Air Link program has been an integral part of our region since 1995, providing critical care transport during the crucial minutes following a traumatic injury or acute medical condition. Air Link is dispatched locally by the Transfer Center at Regional West. This highly trained group of individuals staff the center 24-hours a day. The Transfer Center is responsible for dispatching and following the flights of the Air Link flight team.
The only Level II Trauma Center in Nebraska west of Kearney, Regional West serves as a regional referral center for western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, southern South Dakota, and northern Colorado. The Emergency Department is equipped with a telemedicine service, which allows Regional West physicians to consult with doctors from referring hospitals via a computer link for the evaluation of patients, and to assist with the transportation of patients to the most appropriate level of care.
We are committed to supporting the region as the lead Level II Trauma Center in Nebraska's Region 4. Support includes outreach and consultation in the development of surrounding trauma programs, including pre-hospital training, education, performance improvement, and injury prevention activities. Our team works closely with the region's critical access hospitals as well as pre-hospital services, including volunteer basic life support services, ALS ambulance services, and the Air Link flight service.
