Before your surgery
Thank you for choosing Regional West for your surgical procedure. We’re committed to providing exceptional surgical care. To help you know what to expect, how to prepare for your procedure, and to promote a safe recovery, we encourage you to review the following instructions.
Pre-register
A Regional West admissions clerk will call you to gather important pre-registration information. You will receive instructions on when and where to check in for your procedure.
Medications
Your Pre-Admission Testing nurse will tell you which medications, if any, to take with a small amount of water on the day of surgery.
Eating/Drinking
Do not eat or drink any food or liquid after midnight the night before your surgery, unless given specific directions otherwise. Please follow “nothing by mouth” (NPO) instructions given to you by your Pre-Admission Testing nurse.
Tobacco
Do not use any tobacco products on the day of surgery. Regional West is a tobacco-free campus.
Change in your health
If you become ill with a cold or flu before surgery, please notify your surgeon’s office during office hours. After hours, please notify the Surgery Department by calling 308-630-1370.

Where should I go?

During your pre-registration call, you will be instructed about where to check in for your procedure.

Please arrive at the time given to you during your pre-registration call.

Regional West Medical Center
4021 Avenue B, Scottsbluff
For Inpatient Surgery and some Outpatient procedures (verified during pre-registration). At the main hospital, parking is located on the south side of the hospital near the Main Entrance #2.

4022 Avenue B, Scottsbluff
For Outpatient procedures (verified during pre-registration)
What should I bring?
It is important to bring everything necessary for your appointment. Every patient must bring:

Photo ID, such as a driver’s license, U.S. military ID, permanent resident card, or passport

Insurance card(s), including Medicare and Medicaid
-
Current list of prescriptions and over-the-counter medications
-
Cash, check, major credit card, or co-insurance to pay for co-pays and applicable estimates
-
CPAP/BiPap/portable oxygen tank, if you use them
Other information
-
On arrival, you will be given an identification bracelet to wear during your stay.

Once you are in Outpatient Surgery, additional surgery preparations will be completed, if necessary.

Interpreter services − in many languages − are available at no cost to patients by telephone 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that are easy to change and that will not fit tightly over your surgical site.

If you have been advised that you may have to spend a night in the hospital, pack a small overnight bag with necessary toiletries.

For your safety

If you are scheduled to go home the same day, you must arrange to have a responsible adult drive you home after your surgery or procedure.

If you do not have a driver on the day of surgery, your procedure may be postponed.
What not to bring

Please do not bring your personal medications from home to the hospital.

Please leave valuables, including jewelry, large amounts of money, and extra credit cards at home.
